All our bicycles are stored 1 Hour North of Toronto. If you wish to see a bike and ride it, we need at least 1 week (7 days) notice to be able to bring the bike to STUDIO 2 at 73 Clouston Avenue in Toronto's Weston Village (Weston Rd, South of Lawrence Ave, North-west of Jane St).
We accept donations of bicycles any time during our open hours. Those who wish to donate a bike can bring it to STUDIO 2, if no one is there? please park the bike in front of the black gate next to the house with the red mailbox, include your name and contact information on a piece of paper. We're also looking for bicycle parts, old and new in working condition that can be used to rebuild new bikes. Thank You!!
My first summer (August 2012) running Friends of 2Wheels was more than I could have imagined. Donated bikes kept coming in, faster than my friends and I could keep pase fixing, refurbishing and create up-cycles for people in need of a bicycle. I decided to reach out to my local community, starting with Metro Police 12 Division to learn if there was anyone else recycling bicycles. My next meeting was with Darren Duke who is the Bicycle Assembly And Maintenance (BAM) Training Coordinator with the Early Enrichment Foundation down the road from where Friends of 2Wheels is based. Right away I was welcomed by Darren and since then Friends of 2 Wheels have donated excess bicycles to their Bike Mechanics Program and other community needs.
If you love to ride, want to build a career as a qualified bike mechanic, or just want to learn more about your bike, The Learning Enrichment Foundation’s Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance (BAM) program is your path to a growing and thriving industry.
The BAM program is the first course of its kind recognized by the Canadian bicycle industry. The eight-week program is certified and supported by the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada as well as approved by the ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. There is also growing support from industry and retail businesses that include, Norco Canada, Outdoor Gear Canada, Chain Reaction Bikes, Dukes Cycle and Z&M Cycles, just to name a few.
The Bike Place owned and operated by long-time bike mechanic Louis Zammit. This small shop is about quality repairs, amazing tune-ups, fair prices and excellent service, in other words “a good bang for your buck”. After scouting around for almost a year looking for the best bike store in Toronto, I have selected “The Bike Place” as my main bicycle parts supplier for Friends of 2Wheels.
Louis has his fingers on the pulse of the bike community and he's a great mentor helping me build Friends of 2Wheels foundation. The Bike Place also carrys mid-range bicycles for sale at good prices. Louis can get you anything you want to keep your bike running smoothly and safely on the road. Drop into his shop and let him know that MeHi from friends of 2Wheels sent you, you'll be glad that you did.
Riders Cycle & Board (riderscycleboard.com) is owned and operated by Jeff Ubalde and Valentine Tomlinson. This is a great little community bike shop that is nested in the Dovercourt and Dupont area that has won my, very short… list of friendly bike shops making my presence welcomed and appreciated.
Vintage Restoration. If your lookig for some old classic bikes for your next movie shoot. I suggest visitng Valentine's hidden treasure of vintage bicycles, from the 1940's, war bikes, the 1960s/70s… my favorite decade for the bicycle to the 2010s, fixed gear street machines that fly around our streets, Val can be of great help.
