My first summer (August 2012) running Friends of 2Wheels was more than I could have imagined. Donated bikes kept coming in, faster than my friends and I could keep up fixing, refurbishing and create up-cycles for people in need of a bicycle. I decided to reach out to my local community, starting with Metro Police 12 Division to learn if there was anyone else recycling bicycles. My next meeting was with Darren Duke who is the Bicycle Assembly And Maintenance (BAM) Training Coordinator with the Early Enrichment Foundation down the road from where Friends of 2Wheels is based. Right away I was welcomed by Darren and since then Friends of 2 Wheels have donated excess bicycles to their Bike Mechanics Program and other community needs.

The Bike Place owned and operated by long-time bike mechanic Louis Zammit. This small shop is about quality repairs, amazing tune-ups, fair prices and excellent service, in other words “a good bang for your buck”. After scouting around for almost a year looking for the best bike store in Toronto, I have selected “The Bike Place” as my main bicycle parts supplier for Friends of 2Wheels.

Louis has his fingers on the pulse of the bike community and he’s a great mentor helping me build Friends of 2Wheels foundation. The Bike Place also carrys mid-range bicycles for sale at good prices. Louis can get you anything you want to keep your bike running smoothly and safely on the road. Drop into his shop and let him know that MeHi from friends of 2Wheels sent you, you’ll be glad that you did.
